Social media you use it, don’t let it use you

Social media is definitely a powerful tool and if you use it, rather than letting it use you it can be a positive force in your life. Having said that, it's really important to be mindful about what you are allowing into your feed and therefore into your life.

The internet is something we all have control over, if a page you follow doesn’t make you feel good, UNFOLLOW it. It’s really easy to do and you will feel better for it.

I’ve found some amazing pages that I’d like to share with you. First I’d like to introduce you to a bunch of women whose feeds I find inspiring, informative and often hella funny!

Introducing Later.com

I’d like to introduce you to Later.com. It’s a Canadian based scheduling platform. 🎉 🇨🇦

Posting consistently on social media is so important to making sure that your followers see your posts. Scheduling posts is a time effective, easy way to ensure that you’ve got posts going out regularly. How do you make that happen you ask?

Later.com currently offers a FREE plan with one social set and one user. That means you can have 3 social media accounts and one login email with the option to post 30 times on each account per month.

It’s pretty easy to set up the account so I’m not going to go into detail,  if you need help, give me a shout.

Now it’s time to start posting:
❶ Upload the image you want to use.
❷ Click on the channel you want to post on
❸ Add the post caption and the date & time you want your post to be scheduled
❹ Sit back and relax knowing your social media has been checked off your to-do list
PRO TIP: I suggest that you pick the same time every week to create and schedule your posts. I usually spread them out through the week at different times.
Take a few minutes a couple of times a week and go through the different channels liking, commenting, sharing/retweeting to fill in the rest of the week. Make sure if anyone has commented or liked your post to give them a like or a reply.
PRO TIP: Sharing your own posts on your stories a couple days after they’re posted is a great way to give them more life.

If you want to talk about upping your social media game, give me a shout!

cursive writing on a page text: Blogging for Beginners
Writing a blog is a big undertaking. It takes time and energy, and needs to be done right to make a difference. For the purposes of this blog, I’m talking about small and micro businesses, both retail stores and services, as well businesses offering classes.
A blog should showcase your expertise. It’s something that can keep your website current and give insights that your followers will find valuable.

WHY? A blog gives people a reason to keep coming back to your site. It can also be a great way to create fodder for your social media channels and for a regular newsletter.

TIPS FOR WRITING A BLOG
✔️In most cases a blog post should be short and sweet, 250 to 500 words maximum.
✔️Your blog posts should demonstrate your expertise in your business.
✔️Keep in mind you want something that people will be inclined to share.

WHEN & HOW OFTEN?
⏰Think of a time & day that you think your customers will be online or would be receptive to the information.
⏰The most important thing is to post consistently. I suggest starting with one post per month and when you’ve mastered that, up it to twice/month, if you have the time.

TIPS TO ATTRACT PEOPLE TO YOUR BLOG
👀Research shows that blog posts with images get shared more.
👀PRO TIP: Add alt-text to the images.
👀Creating lists gives you multiple opportunities to post on social media.
👀Review a suppliers, products, events, books, like-minded businesses...

KEEP IN MIND your website, blog, newsletters and social media are tools to help you build your business. If you are going to take the time and energy to write a blog (or pay someone else to do it), make sure it’s working for you.
Not only does a blog help drive customers to your website but using the blog as the base for your social media and newsletters is a smart way to reach different people at different times on different platforms with the same message.

If you are interested in how a blog could work for your small business, give me a shout, I’d love to chat, FIRST HOUR is FREE.
