We all want as many eyes on our websites as possible. Here are 4 easy ways that you can you can make it happen.
1. Quality & relevant content You should have quality content that is relevant to your customer. rel·e·vant /ˈreləvənt/ adjective closely connected or appropriate to what is being done or considered. “Customers are looking for new information about your company that is relevant” Relevant: a real estate agent’s new listing, updated menu, new products in a shop, updated class schedule for a yoga studio, testimonials, upcoming events… qual·i·ty /ˈkwälədē/ the standard of something as measured against other things of a similar kind; the degree of excellence of something. “That is quality advice that helped me make a decision” Quality: a blog post explaining definitions of different yoga poses, a page giving details about the different neighbourhoods a real estate agent specializes in, a F&Q page or resources page… 2. Keywords Keywords are words that you think people would use to search your product or service on the internet. If you created your website yourself using a website building website, like Weebly, there is a SEO settings option and meta keywords is one of them. This can also be added to the HTML, but that’s a whole other story. As the internet has become more sophisticated Google uses spiders or crawlers to search your content for keywords too. Add keywords to your blog posts, in your descriptions in listings, to your resources pages… 3. Link backs are another great way to kick up your SEO. If you are blogging about something and can reference an older blog or another page on your site, Google finds that valuable. Remember that ‘click here’ has no search engine value. For the search engine to determine the relevancy of the link it needs to see the keywords. “Click here to sign up for a tour” has less value than “Sign up for tour now!” It’s a little thing but every little bit helps. 4. Alt - tags Add alt-tags to ALL your images. This is a simple description embedded in an image. If you hover over the image, the description shows up. Originally it was used to help people with accessibility issues, now it’s another way that Google can access information on your site to index it. Your website is an important marketing tool for your business, make sure that it is set up to work as hard as it can for you.
