#️⃣Why use hashtags?
This is one way people can find you in a search. That also means it's a way spammers and bots can find you, but there's not much you can do about that. #️⃣Which tags should you use? Think about what people would use to search your business. Location: #Toronto #GTA #Ontario #Etobicoke Business: #RealEstate #Restaurant #Yoga #Artist Specifics to your business: #NewListing #Vegan #OnlineClasses #InpersonClasses Client Specific: #FirstTimeBuyer #KidFriendly #Ashtanga Post specific: #blog #Tips #Testimonial #review PRO TIP: Do a test search of other similar businesses and see what they're using. #️⃣How many hashtags should I use? The general consensus seems to be 20 hashtags/post is the magic number. I don't see any reason to argue with that or waste any time researching it so let's go with that. PRO TIP: The secret is to use post specific tags. If you are referencing a blog #Blog or more specifically #RestaurantBlog #RestaurantBlogger #RestaurantBloggers ADDED to your standard tags. For example if you work in the Toronto area why not add #GTA #Etobicoke #BloorWestVillage #Oakville, see if it has any impact... It takes a bit more time but I think it's worth it. #️⃣Which sites should you use the hashtag? Definitely Instagram and I would also say they can really help with finding specific conversations on Twitter. I add hashtags to Linked In posts but I'm not sure it's worth it. I think they are redundant on Facebook but if you are posting on Instagram and then sharing it directly to Facebook, no one is going to be offended by it. #️⃣Where do I put the hashtags? They go at the end of the post, after a link (if you're using them on anything other than Instagram)
